WOW – summer has gone by so fast! I can’t believe that we are headed back to school in just over 1 week and that September is just around the corner. Although it’s been a busy summer we have been able to “sneak away” for some fun family moments too – a family reunion, the 4th of July, a weekend at the lake, a mini-vacation to Taylors Falls – just to name a few.

The kids have weathered their first summer of nearly full-time childcare and that has had it’s interesting moments. Things that I certainly want to consider for next summer. There must be a way to break it up so that by August we aren’t hearing, “I hate going to ________________.” Our options for next summer should be a little more broad since we will have two school-age children then, but still…I’ll need some better plans.

They did manage an entire week at Grandma’s though a couple of weeks back. It sounds like they really had a blast. Lots of swimming, popcorn and movies, stops at the park and of course time with their extended family – Grandma and cousins. By the end of the week they were ALL exhausted and I’m sure Grandma collapsed in her recliner that evening breathing a sigh of relief. I know she stated she didn’t remember how busy kids made life. LOL! Welcome to a crazy life with kids, huh?

Summer has been good yep, but I have a feeling Fall will be better – I’m hoping to spend some family time outdoors with the leaves that are so beautiful in Minnesota – I just need to make the reservations to do so. With that, I’m off.

lived the funniest moment only to have the memory forgotten in a matter of weeks? Me too. That’s why I wanted to do this blog – at least that was why in the beginning. I know that I don’t keep it up to date and I regret all of the everyday things that have long since left my memory. For that reason alone, I want to attempt shorter, less witty posts. Those that when read 1 year from know will help me remember those moments and transport me back to the second they happened.

Here are some examples:

Tonight at dinner, Allison proudly proclaimed “I’m going to graduate in 2020.” Wow – that is an amazing statement and not just because she’s now 7, but because that sounds a long ways into “space”. Especially when I was born in the 1900’s.

This past weekend we went out to dinner and laughed so hard when we all used the “WIKKI STIX” to make funny additions for our faces.

When asked if he was getting in trouble recently at a friends’ house, Ethan replied, “No. I only do that at home.”

A few weeks before that, he was telling us about a friend that had been in a car accident. We asked, “Is he okay? Was his Mom or Dad driving? Is their car okay?” To which he correctly replied with the details that he knew. Then Ryan asked, “What happened?” Ethan looked right at him and said, “I don’t know, I wasn’t with him.”

Moments like these are ones that I want to always remember. So here’s to the sharing of simple everyday memories.

No go make some of your own.
