Revamped

Have you ever put something away on a shelf and come back a year or more later to discover it? Waiting there just where you left it to be uncovered when the time was right? This blog is case in point. But – it’s time now to make it more useful, for myself and my future. I’ve taken a new position at work as website coordinator. Not really responsible for the overall design – yet – but responsible for managing the content and the overall cohesive appearance and guess what – I owe it most of all to my humble blog that was often neglected and in the very program that we are using – WordPress. So here I’ll go on a new journey with this little blog I have – to test and try things out before I really need to use them – and who knows something that I may actually keep up with this time. As they say only time will tell.

Glimpse #129

One quick snapshot from Mother’s Day the 129th day of the year.  The weather was gorgeous and we used every inch of it that we could.

Coming Back Into Focus

A Summertime Family Cartoon Portrait

WOW – summer has gone by so fast! I can’t believe that we are headed back to school in just over 1 week and that September is just around the corner. Although it’s been a busy summer we have been able to “sneak away” for some fun family moments too – a family reunion, the 4th of July, a weekend at the lake, a mini-vacation to Taylors Falls – just to name a few.

The kids have weathered their first summer of nearly full-time childcare and that has had it’s interesting moments. Things that I certainly want to consider for next summer. There must be a way to break it up so that by August we aren’t hearing, “I hate going to ________________.” Our options for next summer should be a little more broad since we will have two school-age children then, but still…I’ll need some better plans.

They did manage an entire week at Grandma’s though a couple of weeks back. It sounds like they really had a blast. Lots of swimming, popcorn and movies, stops at the park and of course time with their extended family – Grandma and cousins. By the end of the week they were ALL exhausted and I’m sure Grandma collapsed in her recliner that evening breathing a sigh of relief. I know she stated she didn’t remember how busy kids made life. LOL! Welcome to a crazy life with kids, huh?

Summer has been good yep, but I have a feeling Fall will be better – I’m hoping to spend some family time outdoors with the leaves that are so beautiful in Minnesota – I just need to make the reservations to do so. With that, I’m off.

Have you ever

lived the funniest moment only to have the memory forgotten in a matter of weeks?  Me too.  That’s why I wanted to do this blog – at least that was why in the beginning.  I know that I don’t keep it up to date and I regret all of the everyday things that have long since left my memory.  For that reason alone, I want to attempt shorter, less witty posts. Those that when read 1 year from know will help me remember those moments and transport me back to the second they happened.

Here are some examples:

  • Tonight at dinner, Allison proudly proclaimed “I’m going to graduate in 2020.”  Wow – that is an amazing statement and not just because she’s now 7, but because that sounds a long ways into “space”.  Especially when I was born in the 1900′s.
  • This past weekend we went out to dinner and laughed so hard when we all used the “WIKKI STIX” to make funny additions for our faces.
  • When asked if he was getting in trouble recently at a friends’ house, Ethan replied, “No.  I only do that at home.”
  • A few weeks before that, he was telling us about a friend that had been in a car accident.  We asked, “Is he okay? Was his Mom or Dad driving? Is their car okay?” To which he correctly replied with the details that he knew.  Then Ryan asked, “What happened?”  Ethan looked right at him and said, “I don’t know, I wasn’t with him.”

Moments like these are ones that I want to always remember.  So here’s to the sharing of simple everyday memories.

No go make some of your own. :-)

Life

img_1588I snapped this photo a couple of weeks back and found it on the camera tonight when I downloaded pictures from today.  Judging from this I can tell why I haven’t stopped in here, but to post a few images now and then.  We’ve managed to survive through all of the busy days that we’ve had and I am happy to report things will be a bit slower for the upcoming weeks – thank goodness!

March has been a month filled with planning everywhere – at work, school, church and home.  I think the biggest reason why March has the lion/lamb tag is because the month can either be really wild like a lion, or nice and calm like a lamb.  I just don’t remember which one it was last year – but this year the lion stands out.  We had conferences for the kids, attended Kindergarten round-up for Ethan and the picture captured some of the other stuff in between.

Thankfully my wonderful husband has been extra supportive and helped things run as smoothly as they could during this hectic month – and today we celebrated.  We took the day and went to the “Auto Show” in MPLS.  We packed it in and all four of us headed downtown to check out the newest rides and we had a BLAST!  The kids loved checking out all the new vehicles – I bet they climbed into 50 of them and we ebjoyed letting them explore as we took them in as well.  It was smaller this year than in years past, but understandibly so, but there are still many options to choose from.

At the end Ryan asked “If we had to pick one what would it be?”  Our answers were:

  • Me – Saturn Sky
  • Allison – a VW Beetle
  • Ryan – Dodge Challenger ( I was surprised, since going in he wanted to see the 2010 Camaro)
  • Ethan – a train (LOL, seriously this kid only has one mode of transportation that excites him)

It was such a good time!  We also both liked the looks of the 2009 Nissan RT2? and of course the Porsche’s were way cool.  I secretly also really liked the Audi Crossover vehicle – but hey I like what I drive now because it’s paid for!

Tomorrow will be one last day of busy before things calm down – we have 1st communion at our church so we are helping serve cake & coffee/punch  after mass tomorrow morning and then in the afternoon we are celebrating my Dad & Step-Mom’s 25th wedding anniversary over lunch (or dinner, depending on what you called it growing up :~)  That’s an amazing and wonderful accomplishment.  Congrats to them.

And then it’s back to work & school.  I’m taking a vote – don’t you think weekends should be 3 days now?  Either way it is what it is.  Okay, so enough rambling and take care!  With luck I’ll be here again before Easter!
